---- The Irish Translators’ and Interpreters’ Association / Cumann Aistritheoirí agus Teangairí na hÉireann (ITIA) was founded in 1986 and is the only professional association in The ITIA aims to promote the highest standards within the profession by demanding the highest professional and ethical standards of its members who are required to sign up and adhere to the ITIA ‘Code of Practice and Professional Ethics'. In addition, the ITIA introduced a 'Code of Ethics for Community Interpreters' in 2009. The ITIA also endeavours to foster an understanding among translation and interpretation clients of the highly-skilled and exacting nature of the professions.
