The Irish Translators’ and Interpreters’ Association / Cumann Aistritheoirí agus Teangairí na hÉireann (ITIA) is the only professional association in Ireland representing the interests of practising translators and interpreters. It is a not-for-profit organisation.

The ITIA aims to promote the highest standards within the profession by demanding the highest professional and ethical standards of its members who are required to sign up and adhere to the ITIA ‘Code of Practice and Professional Ethics'. In addition, the ITIA introduced a 'Code of Ethics for Community Interpreters' in 2009.

The ITIA endeavours to foster an understanding among translation and interpretation clients of the highly-skilled and exacting nature of the professions.

In addition to providing guidance to our Association members, the ITIA acts in an advisory capacity to Government bodies, NGOs, the media and others involved in the provision of translation and interpreting services.
