Professional Membership is awarded to translators or interpreters who meet the strict criteria of the ITIA based on qualification and level of experience. Applicants must also achieve a PASS in the Professional Membership Examination (translator or interpreter) set by the ITIA. An external panel of experts in the field of translation and interpreting has been created from which assessors are drawn. 

A Q & A session for those intending to apply to become Professional Members of the ITIA will be held on Saturday, 13 February from 11 am to 12.30 pm at the Irish Writers' Centre, 19 Parnell Square, Dublin 1.

Members of the Professional Membership sub-committee - Graziano Ciulli (Chair), Mary Phelan and Annette Schiller -will answer questions from the audience on Professional Membership policies and procedure.

Associate Members of the ITIA are encouraged to apply to be approved as Professional Members of the Associaton. Non-members may also apply.

Professional Members of the ITIA working mainly in the area of legal translation may apply to become an ITIA Certified TranslatorAn ITIA Certified Translator is permitted to 'self-certify" legal and official documentation that requires certification.
