Professional Membership is awarded to translators or interpreters who meet the strict criteria of the ITIA with regard to 

a) qualification(s) and

b) level of documented translation and/or interpreting experience and

c) achieving a PASS in the  annual ITIA Professional Membership Examination (translator or interpreter).

 • Listing in the ITIA Register of Members published on the ITIA website and updated regularly

• Inclusion in the ITIA mailing list to receive information about events, jobs, CPD, developments in the translation / interpreting sector

• ITIA Bulletin (ezine)

• Networking opportunities through social events

• Member rates at CPD events and at events at sister associations (ITI, SFT, BDÜ etc.)

How to become a professional member:

The ITIA professional membership examination is run once a year. The next deadline for receipt of applications for professional membership is

January 2018.

Please note, we will not be accepting applications until December 2017 at the earliest. The document "ITIA Professional Membership Application Procedure 2017" is for general information purposes only any may be revised before the next examinations.

The assessors for this examination are drawn from an external panel of experts in the field of translation and interpreting.

Associate Members of the ITIA are encouraged to apply to become professional members of the Association. Non-members may also apply.

Professional members of the ITIA working mainly in the area of legal translation may apply to become an ITIA Certified TranslatorAn ITIA Certified Translator is permitted to 'self-certify" legal and official documentation that requires certification.
